Marion County International Raceway

The site location for this development is approximately 39 acres with frontage on State Route 37 three miles south of LaRue, Ohio, 15 miles from Marion, Ohio (population 75,000) 45 minutes from Columbus, a major metropolitan area of over one million people.  The topography of the site is flat mostly and has a pre-existing ¼ mile drag strip in the South central quadrant.

Our family built, owns and operates this facility and has been in continuous operation since 1969.   Throughout time this IHRA sanctioned track has played host to a strong program of bracket racing, drawing competitors and spectators from the tri-state area.

The facility’s history has been one of regular maintenance and constant up grades.  It has many features which makes it a prime property for any one in motorsports.

·         The drag strip operates on 39 acres of land. Its ¼ mile drag strip is 3480 feet in total length (having the longest shut down area in the state) and is sixty feet wide.  It has a concrete starting pad, burn out area and approach area put in 1996.

·         The staging lanes can accommodate over 180 race cars.  The stoned pit area can hold up to 600 cars and haulers; this does not include the spectator side parking.

·         The facility uses what we believe to be a start of-the art TSI “2000 Plus” timing and scoring system, with most equipment being installed new in 2000.  A new computer system was installed in 2004 to run the races.  The scoreboards were refurbished with new parts in 2004 also..

·         Thirty cement anchored towers and twenty-two telephone poles house the quartz lighting and speaker system with all underground wiring.

·         A three-Story block building serves as the tower and contains a hospitality area and wet bar.  The tower also has restrooms and payout office for racing.

·         New drains were install on the track in 2012

·         Attached to the tower in 1998 is a concrete and steel offices housing two executive offices.  There is central heat and air throughout the entire building.

·         There are two food concession stands.  The main concession area is adjoined by a covered picnic pavilion. Added in 2005 is a bar area attached with the bar cooling and serving equipment.  New fryers, pizza ovens, gas griddle, warmers, cash registers and New in 2010 three door cooler in back room. 2013 new counters in back room.

·         Men’s and Women’s restrooms adjoin each of the concession stands.  The facility is severed by its own well and septic system ( New well pump was installed in 2006)

·         A state of the art “Sate Fire Marshall” approved was installed in 1998.

·         A spacious souvenir building was added in 2005.

·         A Covered pavilion for sponsor was built in 2009 and sits beside the tower.

·         There is bleacher seating for 4,000 with room for expansion.

·          The facility is open two days a week running Test & Tune on Fridays and Bracket racing on Saturday.

Added pluses for this property are:

·         All of the acreage is located in a county with NO county-wide ordinances and a township with NO zoning ordinance.

·         The acreage is adjacent to a State Highway on the West side, plus two paved county roads to the South and North West of the property.

·         A stocked pond adjacent to the staging lanes.

·         A large billboard ¼ mile up the road to have special events on.

·         This facility has been in business since 1969 with the same family in charge for the whole time.
